Portsmouth Evictions Easier
A glimmer of hope on several fronts for landlords who sadly need to end tenancies.
The Details..
It appears that PCC has employed a dedicated person who is attached to housing options and whose role is to check all the landlord contractual paperwork to confirm everything is correct before they decide on whether to assist people with homelessness applications.
The other news is that the courts are running at full speed again and are starting to issue possession applications within 14 days so anyone who needs their properties back, perhaps as a result of significant tenant arrears or worse, anti-social behaviour, can get a free checking service courtesy of PCC if you can persuade tenants to visit them.
While section 21 is still alive and kicking it's painless to start the process off.
On the down side PCC appears to have adopted its old policy of telling tenants to stay put until the courts give them a departure date obviously because of the lack of available housing stock. (Yes, we know this is against national policy but when did that ever worry PCC). If any members have written evidence that officers are telling tenants they cannot help until they are in possession of a possession order we would like to see it.
