Landlords Continue To Help The Homeless

PDPLA members have raised nearly £2,000 over the past 2 Christmas’, all of which has been donated to the Society of St James to help the local homeless. It is debatable whether this type of support can end homelessness, and more on that next month, but there follows a thankyou and Christmas update from SSJ. Thank you to everyone who has donated at one of our events or on our JustGiving page:  https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/pdpla2018

It goes without saying that your support of SSJ, through sharing of news, fundraising efforts, and through your determination to put an end to homelessness, you have helped us provide a better future for many vulnerable people across Hampshire in 2019.

This year we have increased the number of units we own, which means we are now providing beds for more than 450 people across Hampshire, and our goal is to continue to grow this number next year. And of course, we have been able to help even more vulnerable people tackle the issues they face; from alcohol and drug dependency, to the impact homelessness has on mental health.

And we did this together, which makes us proud to know that so many people wanted to help us tackle homelessness in 2019.

We still have a lot of work to do, but we know that together we can do even more to provide accommodation and specialist support for vulnerable and homeless people and to also increase our stock of independent housing, to provide a better range of options in the challenge of reducing rough sleeping in our community.

We know you will be alongside us all the way,

Please remember to share your stories on Twitter and Facebook, using the tag #SSJ2019 - we would love to hear some of the stories about what you have done to support SSJ in 2019.

Have a fantastic Christmas,

From all at SSJ
