Welcome back - the Euros and Olympics have finished, most of us have taken our main holiday already this year and we are now officially counting down to Christmas. Sorry, I know it is still summer but there seems to have been a change from 'relaxed summer' to 'busy autumn' in the past days, hopefully many of you have yet to experience it and can muster a few more weeks before you notice the same.
Just looking at the news articles this month, a strong 'student landlord' flavour - that is not bias on our part, it is just where we are seeing activity and potential news items. If you see something of interest to landlords on Housing Benefit or Hayling Island, please let us know and we will be pleased to broaden our news coverage.
One item we did hope would be in this issue but which did not make it was detail of our affiliation with the RLA. We had a good meeting with their Chief Executive and in most areas we seem to have broad agreement, but as always, it is the detail that takes the time and until we have a solution that we believe will benefit all of our members and the RLA without jeopardising the PDPLA, we will just keep on negotiating. It gives an appreciation of how hard Brexit will be to define and agree, given the challenges we face with a simple affiliation of 2 like minded organisations!
