After a comparatively quiet summer on the regulation front, the torrent affecting local landlords appears to have resumed. The news this month is a series of contradictions – there is an item about a bill passed by government last week aimed at reducing homelessness and one about a government consultation which appears intent on increasing homelessness. Similarly, we have some very good news for HMO landlords – PCC have finally agreed to stop sharing our addresses with every fly-by-night rogue letting agent who asks, but conversely there is a noticeable increase in enforcement activity against HMO landlords.
On a more positive front, we'd like to announce the 1st of what we hope will be a regular monthly event – The Landlords Big Breakfast, on 9th November at Watkins & Faux on the seafront. Please read the article and if you can make it, you will be most welcome. We also have our schedule agreed until mid-2017, based on the excellent input from members at our last meeting – so do check out what's on and put the items that are important to you in your diary.
