BBC Programme Wants Successful Landlords

Many of you will have seen the successful, primetime TV series on the BBC 'The Week The Landlords Moved In'.  In the first series successful landlords moved into their own properties for a week and lived as their tenants did and whilst most were good landlords, it was surprising how little some of them realised about the way their tenants lived in their properties.

For the 2nd series, the BBC are looking for more landlords to participate and they have stated that they want to explore more about some of the costs and challenges we face as landlords. Are you interested in taking part?

If so, read on....

Rachel Forbes, the producer of the programme for Boundless Productions, told us, "We believe that this series is very timely, in a time where Britain is increasingly a nation of renters, we hope that this will help bring landlords and tenants together, to better understand each other’s expectations and explore the changing demands of the rental market. In this second series we are interested in talking about the pressures private landlords are facing in terms of changes in taxes, fees and regulations. We touched upon it in the first series but we would like to do it a bit more in this series."

She added, "We are currently looking for successful landlords to feature in our returning documentary series for BBC One which explores what it means to be a landlord in 2017. We want to explore their personal property journey and to look at the success they have now achieved. We are hoping to feature landlords with different stories and reasons to want to get to know their tenants and properties better, by spending a week as one of their tenants. The aim is for this to be a journey which will allows landlords to improve their knowledge of the rental market – and their own properties - by experiencing it first-hand as one of their tenants. It is also an opportunity for the landlords to explore and reflect on how the rental market is changing in Britain and what challenges come with that. Whether you are 'up for it' or not, we do recommend spending time in your properties. Our chairman makes a point of taking a shower in every one of his student lets every summer - he says you don't realise how difficult it is to control temperature in a faulty thermostatic shower until you are stood naked under it.....   Maybe we don't all need to go to these lengths - but do you know how well your oven works in each of your properties or where the draughts are?
